Benton County leaders recognized a growing gap in how the community supported people experiencing mental health crises. Too often, residents in distress were left with only two options—emergency rooms or the criminal justice system. Neither designed to provide the specialized, compassionate care needed to stabilize and heal. The Benton County Crisis Center in downtown Corvallis represents Oregon’s first facility to combine walk-in stabilization, extended residential respite, and connections to ongoing behavioral health services under one roof.
The center is intended as a welcoming, stigma-free place for people of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay. Its mission: to provide immediate, voluntary support that prevents unnecessary hospitalization or incarceration while guiding individuals toward long-term recovery.
