Dutchie

Bend, Oregon

Founded in Bend, Oregon, Dutchie is an all-in-one technology platform powering the cannabis industry with Point of Sale, Ecommerce, Payments and more. The rapidly growing start-up engaged Hyphn to help the company relocate, expand and plan for ongoing growth. Dutchie is equal parts fun and driven, so the Hyphn team created a workplace aesthetic that was a special combination of cool, welcoming and smart, but not so laid back as to feel overly residential.

The project’s timeline coincided with the start of the global pandemic; after it was completed, the space sat largely unused for almost two years. When employees were finally able to occupy the new office, a glitch was quickly discovered– the beautifully bright space’s polished concrete floors and vaulted ceilings created an echo chamber. The acoustics in the space were nearly unbearable and unsuitable for the teamwork and collaboration for which it was designed.

The consultant team advised Dutchie to explore Hyphn’s sound masking technology before extending their budget for additional engineering and architectural services to fix the problem. After a demonstration of how this tech solution changed and improved the acoustic properties of the space, Dutchie leadership invested in upgrading the entire building. Ceiling height variations required extra creativity on the part of Hyphn’s Workplace Technology team when installing and tuning the space, but when the work was done, Dutchie’s CEO said he couldn’t believe his ears – all acoustic issues were resolved.

Hyphn quickly picked up on the look and feel we were going for when furnishing our offices. Not only were they fun and easy to work with, but the finished product exceeded our expectations. Our office has become a big part of our employer brand and culture, thanks to Hyphn.
