When Portland voters approved a major shift in city governance, City Hall needed to evolve—fast. More council members meant more seats, upgraded tech, and a workspace that could support hybrid participation, all without losing its historic character. Hyphn helped make it happen.
- Smart, Sustainable Design
Working closely with the City’s facilities team, Hyphn prioritized reuse—refurbishing over two-thirds of desks and seating from other municipal offices. The result: a functional, budget-conscious, and environmentally friendly workspace. - Seamless Integration
Hyphn’s team replaced a dated AV system with a hybrid-ready setup: a 136″ LED video wall, seven PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) cameras, and 24 gooseneck mics—all tucked discreetly into the millwork. The system now supports ADA-compliant audio, livestreaming, and effortless in-room control. - Built on Collaboration
Weekly huddles, early procurement, and precise execution brought modern capabilities into a legacy space without missing a beat.

Hyphn helped create a space where all community members can engage fully, whether in person or remote. Thoughtful design choices—like glare-resistant displays, amplified microphones at every seat, and assistive listening integration—make the chambers more welcoming, more equitable, and ready for the future of civic participation.
